Summary of Clinical Outcomes

Mr Kim is a Fellowship trained Hip and Knee Surgeon who has over 18 years of independent, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon experience. He has been in full time independent private practice since 2017. He works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team with other specialist colleagues, physiotherapists and Consultant colleagues. His clinical practice is supported by a full-time member of staff, a practice manager and 2 clinical assistants, anaesthetists and radiologists.

Mr Kim’s surgical practice is focused on hip replacements, knee replacements and partial knee replacements; specifically robot-arm assisted hip, total knee and partial knee replacements. This technology is considered by many to be the most advanced way of performing hip or knee replacements.

Joint replacements are technical operations with potentially very good outcomes. However, if you are in doubt, please do not undergo surgery but instead discuss your concerns and options with Mr Kim, as no surgeon or hospital can guarantee outcomes, and there are risks/ benefits with all options available to you, as outlined elsewhere in this website.

However, if surgery is needed, research has demonstrated that the number of hip and knee replacement procedures performed by a Surgeons matters *, with better outcomes associated with higher volume hip and knee Surgeons.

Mr Kim has performed the largest number of private robot-arm assisted hip and knee replacements in the United Kingdom to date, with over 1,500 such procedures (approximately equal numbers of hip and knee replacements)

According to the National Joint Registry (last 3 years), Mr Kim performed :

  • 490 total hip replacements
  • 404 total knee and partial knee replacements
  • Which are significantly higher than the average numbers performed by hip and knee surgeons in the UK.

Outcomes collected in the National Joint Registry reveal very satisfactory clinical outcomes in terms of survivorship of the hip and knee replacements and patient safety over the short and long-term.

In addition to the reassuring data available in the National Joint Registry, patient reported outcomes matter. You will find evidence of several patient reported outcomes by clicking on the various links below.
